The Times Are A Changin’

9 Dec

It’s Friday evening and Kevin, Sven, and I are enjoying our last night together at Coffee Alley. Enjoying drinks and Wifi, as we no longer are living in our infamous 1208.  I must say it’s quite a change from our normal hangout, the living room, but it will have to suffice.

We arrived back from Koh Phi Phi early this morning.
As we left for Koh Phi Phi, we had to pack our bags for good, as we checked out of our beloved Evergreen.

It was sad, but inevitable. As the semester has wrapped up, and slowly we are all saying our goodbyes.

As many people are leaving for good, I was simply packing only to unpack in by the end of the week.
I got my things together, and had to figure out where I would be staying one arriving back in Bangkok. For I am staying in beautiful Bangkok for another month.

As we were packing Saturday afternoon I suddenly realized that upon my return to Bangkok I had no place to stay at all. Usually things of this sort do not worry me, but hearing that hotels around the area were close to $100 a night, I decided I had to find a place before I left.

So with only 2 hours before my flight, I went out on a quest to find an apartment. To many of you, you may think that it would be impossible to find an apartment in only 2 hours, but in Bangkok, the impossible is possible.

I talked to my good friend Samai, the doorman, and we headed down my favorite street.
To cut the story short, within 30 min, I had put down a deposit and got my first apartment ever.
Just like any first apartment should be, its cheap and tiny.

So we went on our trip, and today as we arrived I headed towards there to finalize everything and get settled in.
Taking a second look at it, it was actually a lot nicer than I had remembered. When I had first taken a look at it, it was completely empty, with the exception of a bed. Now it was half furnished.
AWESOME.

There were a couple different places available, but I went with the corner spot. Gives me a great view and a balcony.

As I waited for the boys to meet me for lunch I kicked back checked out the TV.

Flintstones were on, and I couldn’t help but indulge on some cartoons.

This is the first time I have ever had a bed bigger than a twin.
Also the first time I have ever had a TV in my room.
Quite a nice change considering I am 6 feet tall, and into my twenties.

Soon after the boys came by, and we went shopping to get the necessities for living.

As I got things together, Kevin took a little nap on the floor. As usual, Kevin was testing his abilities to sleep virtually anywhere possible.

While shopping, I couldn’t help but go with my all time favorite Winnie the Pooh.

It’s crazy that my first ever apartment is in the middle of Bangkok.
It’s just the beginning, but I have a feeling its going to feel like “home” quite soon.
